Quartz countertops are such a hot topic right now so I thought it should be something we discuss early on. Many customers come in not knowing what Quartz is so here's a 101 on this product.

Quartz, or as we like to call it engineered stone, is a man-made product. It comes in many colors and patterns to suit your ideal look. It’s engineered by combining ground quartz with glues and resins. This is a great product because its non-porous which means it will not harbor bacteria or viruses. What most people like is there is no need to seal your countertops!

Now here is the downfall, quartz is not heat resistant! Though we see this quartz product in many episodes on television, they don’t tell you that it can only take up to 380 degrees! We've seen it before where this material has cracked and stained due to heat and the manufacturer will not warranty it.

My opinion is, if you are used to using trivets under your coffee pot, crockpot and don’t plan on cooking like a chef with red chile or spaghetti sauce flying everywhere on your countertops, why not choose Quartz, it's a beautiful product!
